No one has to stay on the island, but $5,000 is given anyone who does. Awwwww so everyone in here is just giving it one star because it doesn't show every white person in a good light??? So that makes you have to write a scathing review that isnt true at all?? This movie was awesome, and it is amplifying something that is going on right now. Sorry to tell everyone this but racism still exists, the KKK still exists and the portrayal in this film is pretty spot on when it comes to showing the KKK. And the movie literally only shows the government and the KKK in a bad light. Sorry that the white people couldn't be the center of attention for this film. Everyone who's given this one star ade obviously super fragile and can't handle a good movie. This is a really good movie franchise, and it's not like the acting is bad. The camerawork is great and it has solid character development. It's pretty much like all the other purge movie, but with a different demographic. These reviews just don't get the point of the purge franchise. My expectations going into be movie were impeccably low, however, apparently, they were not low enough. Do not go into this movie expecting a thorough back story to the beginnings of the purge. Instead, expect a very short glimpse of the beginnings, which is followed by simply another purge movie, that is just worse. I debated leaving halfway through, but I remembered I payed 6 dollars to watch it, and I went with 2 other people. Please save your money, and don't go or rent this trash. It knows what year it’s coming out — on July 4, no less — and it’s slamming on every hot button it can find. That might be cathartic. It might also be turning pain into entertainment. With The First Purge, your mileage may vary.
